Feasibility of an on road cycle route from Portpatrick to Eyemouth for Ebike visitors

A feasibility study is being undertaken examining a Coast to Coast Cycle Route from Portpatrick to Eyemouth.  The proposed on road route will pass through 11 towns and villages along the way, serving as stop-off points for cyclists.  West to East the towns along the way are Portpatrick, Stranraer, Wigtown, Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries, Langholm, Hawick, Galashiels, Kelso, Coldstream before reaching Eyemouth, map shown below.

Atkins Engineering have been asked to build on research already undertaken into current and future provision for Ebike hire/charging/ parking and support and infrastructure for Ebike Tourism and the demand that exists. 

A survey has been created to solicit opinions from local businesses and organisations that could be involved with cycle and e-bike tourism across southern Scotland.

The project is being led by SOSE, in partnership with Sustrans, Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Visit Scotland and South of Scotland Destination Alliance have appointed Atkins to undertake the feasibility. This survey does not collect personal information, unless you provide it by choice, it is hosted by Atkins, who will only share the information you provide with the public client group.

Could You Be A Community Activator?

Activator

We are looking for enthusiastic, community-minded, caring people who would be willing to train to become Community Activators in our rural communities.

The programmes will be fun and inclusive and aim to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of the participants.

Your role, as a Community Activator instructor, would be to deliver 2 to 3 weekly physical activity sessions in village halls and community centres, for those most inactive and/or socially isolated.

Following the training, you will be able to apply for a casual Community Instructor position within Dumfries and Galloway Council (£10.48 per hour).
