A SIGNIFICANT piece of engagement work is set to get underway focused on maternity services in the west of the region.

Two separate independent chairs have been appointed to oversee this review of maternity services and to look at developing a model for the future.

They are NHS Ayrshire and Arran Medical Director Crawford McGuffie, and NHS Ayrshire and Arran Executive Nurse Director Jennifer Wilson.

They will be supported by a midwifery expert, Angela Cunningham, a retired Associate Director for Women’s and Children’s services, who continues to have an active role in Maternity Services in Scotland.

You are invited to attend one of two online engagement session which have been established for community councillors.

These sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams on the following dates and times:

14/02/2023 – 11 am   OR      22/02/2023 – 6 pm

If you wish to attend one of these sessions, please let us know by emailing: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Other engagement opportunities are being scheduled for elected members, health and social care staff, local stakeholder groups and the wider public.

While planned engagement events are scheduled to take place from mid-February, people can now begin contributing their thoughts via the online survey which is now live at

Everyone should be supported to take part, and we would ask everyone to help promote the engagement opportunities and help ensure everyone who wishes to play their part has the opportunity to do so.
