Making a response on a planning application
All applications to Dumgal are published online at https://eaccess.dumgal.gov.uk/online-applications/
“Search Planning Applications” and enter the appropriate reference e.g. 23/0001/FUL in the search box. When the application details appear choose the Documents tab at the top to view the list of documents available.
Anyone can support or object to planning applications - you are advised to base these responses on what are called 'material considerations'. This is a matter that should be taken into account in deciding a planning application or on an appeal against a planning decision. These can include (but are not limited to):

Overlooking/loss of privacy
Loss of light or overshadowing (usually limited to certain internal rooms eg a lounge, but not a bedroom)
Parking
Highway safety
Traffic
Noise
Effect on a historic building or a conservation area
Layout and density of building
Design, appearance and materials
Current Government policy
Disabled persons' access
Proposals in the Local Development Plan - see Dumgal
Previous planning decisions (including appeal decisions) may be relevant
Nature conservation

However, issues such as loss of view, or negative effect on the value of properties are not material considerations. You can find out more about this and other planning terms at https://www.pas.org.uk/resources/ Planning Aid for Scotland is an independent charity which assists communities to understand the planning system.
You can submit your response to a planning application online or by email. For further info on how to comment go to
