Getting Connected Project - we provide one-to-one supported appointments to assist people:

  • Complete a range of application forms
  • carry out online job searches and apply for jobs online
  • update Universal Credit e-journals
  • create or update CV’s

We also offer additional FREE Basic Computer Skills learning sessions. These short sessions cover all the things you need to know to use computers in your day to day life. The sessions are friendly and informal allowing you to learn at your own pace. We also offer Free Money Matters sessions to assist you manage your household income using your new IT skills. We offer an iPad and free internet dongle loan scheme for those without internet enabled devices.

Winter Warmth for Older People Project– please contact us for a registration form. Closing date to register is 1st Sept 2021. We provide free briquettes and kindling for older people in D & G who rely on open fires/multi-fuel stoves as their main source of heating.

To be eligible for the service people need to be:

  • over 60 years of age
  • not in paid work and have no other household member in paid work
  • in receipt of a means-tested benefit or have extenuating circumstances e.g. long term health conditions.

SPRING Social Prescribing Project can help to address social, emotional and practical needs by supporting and connecting people to sources of support and opportunities available in their local community. People who experience social isolation, low mood, mild depression, long term conditions, pain management or physical inactivity may benefit from this social prescribing so if you or someone you know would like to be referred to us please contact 01387 269161 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Do you have any Primary or Secondary School Clothing that you family no longer needs?  To support parents with the on-going costs of School Uniforms and Stationery supplies, our Council and partners have restarted the School Uniform Project. Across the region, anyone can make donations of school uniforms and stationery for families in need. This could be donations of uniforms which your family no longer requires or from those buying an extra item of uniform or stationery to donate. You can drop off donations here at the hub between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Families will be able to go to the following locations to browse through donated goods to see if there is anything that would be suit able for them and whatever they wish to take, they can take home for free.  ● The 3rs Horse Rescue Charity Shop, King Street, Castle Douglas

Quick tour of Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway's new website Their new website is about to launch and this is an opportunity for third sector organisations across Dumfries and Galloway to see what services they can now tap into. They have new sections on events, jobs, volunteering, and resources, with the website having been designed to make it easier to use by organisations and volunteers. The Communications team will take you on a whistle stop tour of the website. Summer Kids Club at Gracefield - Ages 5-12 Younger kids (under 7s) be accompanied by an adult – but we don’t know what will be happening with covid restrictions, we may have to limit accompanying adults in the workshop spaces, but you can stay near-by in the café. Club this year is £3 per child but please phone and book a place in advance on 01387 262084. You can book as many clubs as you like, but will be the same activity repeated Wednesday and Friday each week. Online FREE event – Inside the Home Wed 7th July 2021 - 19:30 to 21:00. This is part of a series of four events to find out how the individual choices we all make can add up to important effects. In this July event, 'Inside the home', expert speakers from Home Energy Scotland will advise on the practical improvements you can make inside the home that will reduce your environmental impact - and save you money! Sarah Farrell, Climate Change Project Officer for Dumfries and Galloway Council will also be giving tips on choices you can make within your home to help you support the environment. These sessions are run in partnership with Giki - a fun and interactive way to measure and then improve your carbon footprint. You don't need to have attended the first and second sessions in this programme (What We Buy and What We Eat) to come along to this one, but if you'd like to catch up, you'll be able see the full recording of those events on the Galloway Glens YouTube channel. Consultation Paper on the Sale and Use of Fireworks in Scotland, and Tackling the Misuse of Pyrotechnics For your information, and for sharing with any other interested colleagues, stakeholders and contacts, A public consultation has been launched this morning seeking views from the public and stakeholders on the introduction of four specific requirements in relation to the sale and use of fireworks in Scotland. Kilgallioch Wind Farm Community Benefits Are you involved with a community group or project in Wigtownshire? With the restrictions easing are you starting to get going again? If you have plans afoot, you might be interested to know that the next deadline for the Kilgallioch Community Fund is Monday July 5, for awards of up to £10,000.So far this year the Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company Board has already made 27 awards worth £377,000 in both its Standard Grants and Large Grants categories – your group could be next! Museum Development Fund Apply for between £15,000 to £50,000 (or up to £60,000 for museums caring for Recognised Collections for projects relating to those collections) for projects which will help your museum to make strategic steps towards becoming more resilient organisations in line with the aims of the National Strategy. Tampon Tax Fund 2021-2022 funding round Tampon Tax Fund application form and guidance for applicants for the 2021-2022 round of funding. Volunteers receive out of pocket travel expenses; a full induction and have an

allocated member of staff to provide ongoing support and coaching.

We have implemented Covid-19 safety measures including PPE, floor and desk standing screens, hand sanitiser units. We operate an appointments system with intercom door entry to manage footfall to ensure social distancing for the safety of our staff, volunteers and the Public.
